This creamy Bang Bang Sauce is the perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and sweet. It makes a great dipping sauce or dressing for vegetables, chicken, or shrimp.
I’ll be honest, I use this sauce for everything. I put it on my shrimp tacos, I dip chicken fingers and crispy roast potatoes in it, I even drizzle it over pork belly bites. I can’t get enough of it.
The first time I had bang bang sauce was at Bonefish Grill on their now-famous shrimp appetizer. I was amazed how good it was and immediately wanted to learn how to make it at home.
This recipe is so simple to make. Good thing, because I make it a lot. It takes only 4 ingredients: mayo, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey. You probably already have those things in your fridge, so you can make this up tonight!
You can use this sauce as a dressing for fried shrimp, the way Bonefish Grill does. Just toss the shrimp in the sauce to coat it. So simple!
I go a step farther and add the bang bang shrimp, along with some coleslaw, to a corn tortilla. It makes a delicious taco that’s perfect for when you’re craving something spicy-sweet.
This sauce is also fantastic on vegetables. Raw or roasted, dip away! I made air fryer cauliflower the other day and this goes so well with the crunchy salted cauliflower.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Mayonnaise – I always use full fat mayo because it has the best texture and flavor.
- Sweet Thai chili sauce – I use Mae Ploy brand if I can find it. It has the best flavor. Blue Dragon brand also works.
- Sriracha – I use Huy Fong brand
- Honey – You might find that the sauce is sweet enough for you without honey, so I suggest mixing up the sauce first and then adding honey to taste.
Helpful Tips
- If you don’t like sweet sauces, taste the sauce before adding the honey to determine if you need it or not.
- Refrigerate any left over sauce for up to 1 week.

How to Use Bang Bang Sauce
Bang Bang Shrimp is definitely the most popular way to use this sauce. All you need to do is toss the breaded fried shrimp with a few tablespoons of sauce to coat. It makes a delicious bang bang shrimp dish like at Bonefish Grill.
I also like tossing fried chicken bites with this sauce for Bang Bang Chicken. Pretty much no matter what you eat it with, it’s delicious.
You can also use it as a dipping sauce for chicken fingers, or you can baste chicken with it on the grill. Anything goes.
