This Honey Mustard Dressing Recipe is the one you’ve been looking for. It’s so similar to popular restaurant recipes. You’ll be dipping everything in this dressing.

Chicken with Honey Mustard Dressing

I’ve made dozens of different honey mustard recipes looking for the one that had the right ingredients to taste like the version I love at popular restaurants, like Longhorn Steakhouse and Fuddruckers.

This sauce is exactly what I was looking for. It’s not overly sweet, and it has a slightly thick consistency that’s perfect for dipping chicken strips or pouring over a salad.

Ingredients in Honey Mustard Sauce

You’re not going to believe me when I tell you the ingredients. I didn’t even believe that these ingredients would make the type of honey mustard dressing I was looking for. The one that tasted so much like my favorite restaurants.

But believe me, they do. Just try it.

Salad with Honey Mustard Dressing

The most unbelievable ingredient is the regular yellow mustard. I use French’s yellow mustard. It seems like yellow mustard couldn’t possibly make this dressing. I wanted to reach for the Dijon. The Dijon makes a great honey mustard too, but it’s not the same.

So what you’ll need is:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Yellow mustard
  • Honey
  • Lemon juice

Just those four ingredients make the most incredible honey mustard dressing.

While you’re thinking about easy to make dressings, give this easy vinaigrette recipe a try too. It also requires only 4 ingredients.

How to Make Honey Mustard Dressing

The making of this sauce is extremely easy. You just need to mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and whisk it together until it’s thoroughly combined. You could also put the ingredients into a container with a lid and shake it to combine. I prefer this method because then the sauce is already in the container to put it in the refrigerator.

It’s best to let the sauce rest in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes before using it. It will thicken up and get chilled so it’s perfect for dipping.

How Long is It Good For?

It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll have any left overs of this sauce! It’s so tasty that it gets eaten up pretty quickly. However, if you mix up a large batch of sauce, it will keep in the refrigerator for at least a week or longer.

You can use it for so many different things – as a salad dressing or as a dipping sauce. So you’ll likely use it up quickly. That’s why I recommend making a new batch every time you need it, rather than making a larger batch and storing it. It’s always better fresh.

What to Serve This Sauce With

Dressing a salad is only one good reason to make this honey mustard dressing. It’s perfect for dipping, being a thicker sauce, so you’ll want to mix it up as a dip for chicken strips, crispy potatoes, and even steak.

You can also use this sauce to glaze a baked ham, drizzle over roasted vegetables, or spread inside a salad in place of mayo or regular mustard.
