We make pizza at home using our homemade pizza dough or this easy Bisquick pizza crust quite often. Usually we load it up with traditional toppings, but once in a while we like to mix it up by adding things like hot honey. If you haven’t tried this magical ingredient, it’s time you give it a shot.
The best thing about hot honey pizza, besides the spicy, sweet kick you get from the drizzle of honey, is that you can load it up with whatever favorite toppings you want. If you’re making pizza for a crowd, everyone can choose their own combo.

What is Hot Honey?

Hot honey is a type of infused honey that combines the sweetness of honey with the heat of chili peppers. It’s a versatile condiment that can be used in a wide variety of dishes, and it has gained significant popularity in recent years for several reasons.
It offers a unique balance of sweetness and heat that enhances many types of dishes. This combination of flavors isn’t common in most condiments, which makes hot honey an exciting option for people looking to try something new.

Suggested Equipment
- Pizza Pan: I’m a big fan of the Cuisinart Pizza Pan. It has holes in the pan so your crust gets perfectly crispy without overdoing it. You never have to worry about half-baked dough with this pizza pan.
- Pizza Peel: A pizza peel is your best friend for sliding your pizza in and out of the oven. If you don’t have one, no sweat, just flip a sheet pan upside down and use that. To get your pizza out of the oven without a peel, get creative with tongs (be gentle!) or two spatulas.
- Pizza Cutter: Your pie deserves a good, sharp pizza cutter to slice through all those toppings. I’ve seen some pretty funky pizza cutter designs, but you can’t go wrong with Oxo Good Grips 4″ pizza cutter.
- Honey Wand: Drizzling honey on your pizza is a game-changer, and a honey wand makes it easy (and less messy!). Keep it horizontal and spin it around to keep the honey nice and neat, then hold it vertical to let the honey drip down in a perfect ribbon.

Hot Honey, Pear, & Blue Cheese Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 pre-made pizza crust store-bought or homemade
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 ripe pear thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbled
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 2 tablespoons hot honey
- Fresh arugula for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you’re using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Roll out your pizza crust on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If you’re using a pizza stone, transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel dusted with flour or cornmeal. If using a baking sheet, place the dough on a greased sheet.
- Evenly spread the olive oil mixture over the pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
- Arrange the thinly sliced pears evenly over the cheese base. Sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese on top of the pears. Then sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese.
- Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Once the pizza is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately drizzle the hot honey over the top. The heat from the pizza will help the honey spread and melt slightly.
- Top the pizza with fresh arugula for added crunch. Slice and serve warm.
