If you’re always craving ice cream, but want to cut back on the sugar and carbs, this Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipe is a great way to do that. The Ninja Creami is specifically designed to create smooth and velvety ice cream using just a few ingredients and this version is no different.
Read through the recipe below and you’ll see how simple it is. Just 3 ingredients and about 10 minutes of your time will give you a pretty great ice cream that’s packed with protein and can be made in any flavor you like.
You do have freeze the mixture for 24 hours before churning, so be sure to plan ahead. It’s still a WAY faster method for making great ice cream.
We reviewed the Ninja Creami recently when we were given one to try out. I started out making the basic Ninja Creami vanilla ice cream, which is great and very easy – no eggs to contend with – but then I wanted to branch out and try the other recipes, like gelato and sorbet. This protein ice cream caught my eye, even though I did think it sounded a bit strange at first. If you give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Ingredients You Need

- Unsweetened almond milk – You can use milk if you want.
- Fairlife Protein Shake – The Fairlife shake is what is recommended. I haven’t used any other type of shake to see how they hold up. You can choose any flavor you like.
- Sugar-free pudding mix – Use any flavor you like. I tend to mix a vanilla shake with vanilla pudding or banana pudding; a chocolate shake with chocolate pudding. If you don’t care about the sugar content, you could use regular pudding mix.
Equipment Needed
Ninja CREAMi Deluxe
There are two version of the Ninja Creami, but I’d suggest going with the Deluxe because it adds more features and churning power.
Make completely customizable ice cream, slushies, Italian Ice, Creamiccinos, sorbet, milkshakes, and frozen yogurt functions.
Tips for Making Great Ice Cream
- If your ice cream turns out powdery the first time, it’s because the ice cream is very cold. Put it back in the machine and run the Re-Spin cycle. This will make the ice cream creamier.
- I’ve used both milk and half and half instead of the almond mink it’s turned out really good. You can try it both ways to see how you like it best.
- It’s important to wait the full 24 hours to churn the ice cream. The consistency will be affected if the base isn’t frozen enough in advance.
- When stored properly in an airtight container, the ice cream can be enjoyed for up to 1-2 weeks in the freezer. However, for the best taste and texture, it’s recommended to consume it within the first few days.
