- For a crispy, cheesy topping, broil the dish for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
- For more texture, cut the toppings into larger pieces.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce or hot honey for a spicy kick that enhances the pizza flavor.

- 8 ounces (227 g) shell pasta
- 1/2 pound (227 g) pork sausage
- 6 large mushrooms sliced
- 1 green bell pepper chopped
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 3 ounces (85 g) pepperoni minis
- 28 ounce (794 ml) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon (16 g) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons (4 g) Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cup (168 g) mozzarella cheese grated
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375° F(190°C).
- Boil a pot of salted water for the pasta. Cook according to the package instructions to just shy of al dente (a few minutes less than the package suggests). Drain and set aside.
- Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until almost cooked through, about 6 minutes, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Add the mushrooms, bell pepper, and onion to the skillet and cook until softened. Add half the pepperoni and cook for 1-2 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the pan.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Stir and taste. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour the pasta into a 9×13 casserole dish. Pour the sauce over the top and stir. Then top the dish with the mozzarella cheese and remaining pepperoni.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese has melted and is lightly browned on top.
