Whenever I buy fish at the grocery, I’m usually disappointed by the quality and/or the selection. There are only a few fish varieties available, and some are farm raised. That just leads me to avoid buying fish, which is sad for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that the FDA recommends at least 8 ounces of seafood per week for adults.

In order to write this Sea to Table review, we were sent a Fish Lover’s box, plus a few extras we added on like Wild Gulf Shrimp and Atlantic Sea Scallops. The variety of fish in the box was great and we were able to make a number of recipes with it.
We received Alaska Coho Salmon, Alaska Sockeye Salmon, Gulf of Maine Redfish, Northwest Pacific Cod, Atlantic Winter Skate, and West Coast Dover Sole. It came in 12 flash-frozen servings, vacuum-sealed with 2 per pack.

This is more than enough fish and seafood for our family of 3 for a month. This enables us to eat fish 1-2 times per week, and with the peace of mind that it’s all wild caught, sustainable, and without preservatives or antibiotics.
Recyclable Packaging
The cardboard box and insulation that the fish is delivered in can be recycled. The inner insulated zipper bag is reusable. The only things that can’t be recycled are the butcher paper, which is a special freezer parchment with an artificial wax lining, and the plastic vacuum wraps.

What We’ve Cooked
The first thing we made with our Sea to Table box contents was Shrimp Scampi, with the Jumbo Wild Gulf Shrimp. They are E-Z Peel (shell on), already deveined, and quite large. There were 12 shrimps total in the package, which can serve 3-4, depending on your serving size. They come from the Gulf of Mexico.

The shrimp scampi was delicious. I rarely buy jumbo shrimp, and that are this high quality, because they’re difficult to find where I live. They were a real treat. When cooked just to doneness with garlic and butter – serious yum. The shrimp was very tender and had a delicious sweetness to it. it was almost like eating lobster.

You can also purchase wild gulf shrimp that are already peeled and deveined. They come in a 10oz package. These are great for a quick, easy dish where you don’t want to have to peel the shrimp, like crispy shrimp tacos or air fryer breaded shrimp.
These wild gulf shrimp come from fishing towns in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

Quality
I have always been apprehensive about purchasing fish and seafood at the grocery near me, because I don’t know where it comes from or how it was raised. It’s unfortunate, but the vast majority of seafood sold in the United States is imported from overseas, and often comes from poorly regulated industrial farms.
All Sea to Table seafood is wild-caught from well-managed U.S. fisheries. Since U.S. fisheries are closely monitored and managed by a strict science-based system, you can rest easy knowing that this fish is responsibly-caught from healthy oceans.
The portions of fish are generously sized, the fish has a good texture and tastes good, and it cooks well. These are all important quality measures for me.

Taste
Taste is obviously one of the most important factors, too. I find a lot of store-bought fish is flavorless and sometimes even freezer burned or watery after cooking. The fish I’ve cooked from Sea to Table has not had those qualities.
The scallops defrost well and get a fantastic sear. The flavor is nice and sweet. The texture is tender and meaty. I’ve also really enjoyed trying different fish that I wouldn’t normally get, like the Skate and Dover Sole.
