The air fryer gets the potatoes perfectly crisp on the outside and tender inside without any deep frying or extra oil. It comes together with mostly pantry and fridge staples, so you can whip it up on a weeknight without a special grocery trip. And because it works as a side for tacos, grilled chicken, or just about anything off the grill, it is one of those recipes you will find yourself making all summer long.

Helpful Tips

  • Cut the potatoes evenly: Uniform, small cubes cook through at the same rate, which is the key to getting every piece crisp instead of some undercooked and others overdone.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket: Giving the potatoes room to breathe lets hot air circulate around each piece, so they crisp up instead of steaming.
  • Adjust the jalapeno to your spice level: Removing the seeds and ribs keeps the heat mild, while leaving them in brings a bigger kick, so tailor it to your crowd.
