These homemade fruit leather snacks will undoubtedly satisfy your sweet tooth and you don’t have to feel bad about it, because they require very little sugar and can be made with organic strawberries and no additives.

Fruit leather is like nature’s candy. The pureed fruit is dehydrated until it is pliable and sweet. It’s easy to make, and an excellent way to use up any surplus fruit you might have lying around.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Strawberries – Make sure to use ripe, delicious berries. The outcome of your fruit leather is very dependent on how good the strawberries are.
  • Sugar – You can use white granulated sugar, or use a sugar substitute like allulose, monkfruit, or erythritol for a low-sugar option.
  • Lemon juice – Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (576 g) strawberries stemmed and chopped
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) lemon juice

Instructions

  • Pour the strawberries, sugar and lemon juice into a blender and blend until well pureed.
  • Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 8-10 minutes, until the mixture has thickened considerably.
  • Pour the mixture onto a silicon mat on a baking sheet and spread it out to 1/4” thickness.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven or dehydrator at 170° F for about 2 hours, or until it’s dry to the touch.
  • Remove it from the dehydrator and let it cool completely. Slice and roll.
