If you’ve only ever had plain steamed edamame, you’re in for a spicy upgrade. This Spicy Edamame is tossed in a garlicky, gingery sauce with just the right balance of heat, sweetness, and umami. It’s fast, easy, and the kind of snack or appetizer you’ll keep reaching for.

The magic here is in the sauce. Fresh garlic and ginger give it a punchy base, while soy sauce, sambal oelek, and honey bring depth and heat. A quick boil and toss is all it takes, and in under 10 minutes, you’re digging into a craveable dish that’s way more exciting than your usual edamame. Serve it alongside this Salmon Sushi Bake for a sushi-inspired meal.
Helpful Tips
- Don’t overcook the pods: Boil just until bright green and tender, about 2 minutes. Overcooking makes them mushy.
- Use fresh garlic and ginger: Pre-minced versions won’t have the same intensity or freshness.
- Adjust the heat: Sambal oelek gives it a spicy kick, but you can dial it back or swap in Sriracha for a milder option.
