They’re the perfect party appetizer or snack for game day, New Year’s Eve, or potluck you’re attending!

Helpful Tips

  • Press firmly for stable cups – Press the tots down firmly into each muffin cup to create a stable base that can hold the toppings. A small flat tool, like the bottom of a shot glass, works well for this.
  • Try other toppings – Mix things up by adding toppings like jalapeños, diced tomatoes, or even a drizzle of hot sauce to customize these bites to your taste.
  • Serve immediately – These tater tot cups are best enjoyed warm, straight from the oven, so the cheese is melty and the tots are nice and crispy.

Ingredients

  • 20-30 frozen tater tots
  • 1/3 cup (38 g) cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup (58 g) sour cream
  • 2 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • Chives sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450ºF (230ºC). Grease the cups of a mini muffin pan.
  • Place 2-3 tots in each muffin cup.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and let cool slightly.
  • Mold the tots into cups inside the tray. You can do this by pressing a small flat object into the tray and twisting to force the tots up the sides. Return to oven; bake for 15 more minutes.
  • Add cheese to each potato cup. Bake for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Transfer to a serving platter. Top with sour cream, bacon bits, and chives.
