Baked Spiral Ham is a perfect main dish for your Easter or holiday dinner. Since spiral ham comes fully cooked already, all you have to do is bake to reheat it and serve!

I wait all year for the chance to make my spiral ham for Easter for my family. Around the holidays is when this incredibly convenient ham goes on sale at the grocery store. You can easily find it for half the price or less what you would get it for other times of the year.
Since it’s already sliced, it really can’t be any easier. We serve it for dinner, then we have leftovers for days. And speaking of leftovers, we always make a batch of this Instant Pot ham and bean soup.
Why You’ll Love It
- Irresistible Glaze: The optional brown sugar glaze adds a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess, elevating the ham to a whole new level.
- Time-Saver: You don’t have to cook this ham for hours because it’s already pre-cooked.
- Perfect For Leftovers: Any leftover ham can be re-purposed to use in sandwiches, salads, omelettes, or soups.

Ingredients You’ll Need

- Spiral Ham – Available at your local grocery store or butcher shop. Choose a size that’s appropriate for the size of your family or gathering.
Optional glaze
Spiral ham often comes with a seasoning packet that is either a wet glaze or a dry mix. You can use that glaze or mix the dry powder with water or orange juice to make your glaze. If you want to make your own, you’ll need these ingredients:
- Brown Sugar – Great for adding caramelization.
- Orange or Pineapple Juice – Freshly squeezed or store-bought, either option will enhance the flavor profile of the glaze.
- Dijon Mustard – Whole-grain mustard for added texture or a spicy Dijon for an extra kick or acceptable alternatives.
Equipment Needed
- Baking sheet
- Tinfoil
- Pastry brush

Tips for Making Baked Spiral Ham
- Allow the spiral ham to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking to ensure even cooking throughout.
- If your ham doesn’t come pre-scored, make shallow cuts in a diamond pattern on the fat side. This helps the glaze penetrate and gives the ham an appealing look.
- Allow the ham to rest for at least 10 minutes before carving. This keeps the juices retained, ensuring each slice is juicy and flavorful.

Baked Spiral Ham
Ingredients
- 1 spiral ham any size
For the glaze:
- 2/3 cup (147 g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (59 ml) orange or pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F(165°C).
- Bake the ham, covered with foil, for 12-15 minutes per pound.
- When there are 20 minutes remaining, glaze the ham by brushing it with the sauce using a pastry brush. Return it to the oven, uncovered for the final 20 minutes.
- I like to take it out at 135°F(55°C) so it doesn’t overcook. Carryover cooking will bring it up to 140°F(60°C).

- Tin foil
- Pastry brush
