Wire cooling rack
Rubber spatula
- 1 package Ghirardelli white chocolate wafers 10oz
- 1 package Oreo cookies
- Green and yellow food coloring
- St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles
Divide the wafers into 3 bowls. Use one bowl at a time, starting with the white.
Heat the wafers in the microwave for 15 seconds. Stir and repeat until almost all the wafers are melted. Continue stirring rapidly until smooth.
Drop one cookie at a time into the white chocolate. Use a fork to take it out and set it on a wire rack. Continue, as quickly as possible, with all 12 cookies. Immediately decorate them with the sprinkles, while they’re still a little wet.
Heat the second bowl in the microwave, following the instructions above. Once smooth, drop in enough food coloring to make a rich yellow color. Dip 12 cookies and decorate.
Continue with the green bowl.
Allow the cookies to set up for 2 hours.
- To prevent the chocolate from burning, heat it in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently.
- Adding cold food coloring to the melted chocolate can cause it to seize, which will ruin it for dipping. Try to warm it slightly before adding it.
- Apply sprinkles immediately after dipping each cookie to ensure they stick. Place a sheet of parchment paper under your wire rack for easy cleanup.
- A regular package of Oreos contains 36 cookies. I usually only make about 12 at a time. If you make 12, use 1/3 package of wafers. To make 24 use 2/3 the package.
