- 6 Frozen bread dough dinner rolls thawed
- 2-3 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 12 Lit’l’ Smokies sausages
- 1/3 cup prepared mustard
- 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish
- 1/3 cup chopped sweet onion
- 1/3 cup chopped tomato
- 2 whole dill pickles sliced
- 4 large pepperoncinis cut into thirds
- dash celery salt
Cut the dough rolls in half and roll each into an oblong shape. Sprinkle the poppy seeds onto a small plate. Dab the rolls into the poppyseeds and plate onto a baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Place the sausage into a baking dish. When the dough has risen, place both the rolls and the sausages in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
Slice the buns down the middle. Place a sausage in each bun. Top with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, pepperoncini, and a dash of celery salt.
- For an authentic Chicago dog experience, make sure to include all the traditional toppings like bright green relish, sport peppers, and tomato slices.
- Lightly toasting the slider buns will add a bit of crunch and prevent them from becoming soggy when loaded with toppings.
- Prepare the sliders ahead of time by assembling them and storing in the fridge until you're ready to serve—just heat them up for a quick and easy party snack.
