Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin or chuck roast cubed
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil if browning the meat
  • 1 pound potatoes cut in chunks
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon steak seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup salted butter sliced (1 stick)
  • 2 green onions sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  • Optional: Heat oil in a skillet until hot. Add the steak cubes and brown to sear on all sides, about 2 minutes per side. You’re not aiming to cook it all the way through, just brown it. You can omit this step if you choose.
  • Add all of the ingredients, except the green onions, to the slow cooker. Mix everything together.
  • Cook on HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 5 hours. If the meat and potatoes are not sufficiently tender at this point, continue cooking for another 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Serve garnished with green onions.
