Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls 8 oz
  • 2 1/2 slices American cheese quartered
  • 10 hot dogs
  • Cooking spray
  • White and black cookie icing optional
  • Mustard and ketchup for dipping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C).
  • Unroll the crescent rolls. Press the perforated seams together on each rectangle.
  • Cut each rectangle of dough into 10 long strips of dough. Quarter the cheese slices into 4 long strips of cheese.
  • Put a slice of cheese lengthwise on each hot dog. Use 4 slices of dough to wrap each hot dog up like bandages on a mummy. Leave a small space at the “head” to add eyeballs.
  • Place each mummy onto a baking sheet, cheese side down. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
  • Bake for 15-17 minutes, until the dough is golden brown.
  • To make the eyes, squirt on a drop of white icing and a drop of black icing.

Notes

  • Can be made without cheese to make them dairy free.
  • If you don’t have crescent dough, any dough cut into strips will work.
  • This recipe works best with regular hot dogs, not sausage. To make appetizer sized mummies, cut the hot dogs in half.
  • This recipe makes 5 dinner servings (2 hot dogs each), or 10-20 appetizers.
