Baked brie in puff pastry is one of those appetizers that feels a little fancy but is surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 8 ounce wheel of brie cheese
  • ¼ cup pecans roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 large egg + 1 tablespoon water
  • Crackers for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a rimmed baking sheet or pan.
  • Roll the puff pastry out to a roughly 12-inch square.
  • Place the puff pastry in the prepared pan. Set the brie in the center of the puff pastry.
  • Top the brie with pecans, brown sugar, and black pepper. Carefully fold the corners of the pastry over the brie, pinching the edges together to seal.
  • In a small bowl, beat together the egg and water. Brush it all over the pastry top and sides.
