Get a taste of Autumn with this Caramel Apple & Spiced Rum Cocktail that will remind you of all the things you love about Fall from the first sip.

Caramel Apple & Spiced Rum Cocktail

When summer starts to drift away and the temperatures turn down, I immediately start to think about all the Fall flavors I’ve been missing. Caramel apples were one of my favorites from my childhood. This Caramel Apple Rum Cocktail is the adult version of a caramel apple.

If you love these flavors together you should try caramel apple cupcakes and salted caramel apple crisp. Both are amazing.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Spiced rum – This recipe uses Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum but you can use any brand of spiced rum that you want, like Sailor Jerry’s or Kraken.
  • Apple cider – I like to use cloudy apple cider but it’s okay if you only have apple juice instead of cider.
  • Caramel syrup – I use Nestle’s Carnation Dulce de Leche caramel sauce. It tastes just like the caramels we used to melt down to make caramel apples.
  • Garnish – Ground cinnamon and cinnamon sticks.
  • Ice

Equipment Information

  • Cocktail shaker – This allows you to mix all of the ingredients together with ice for the perfect cocktail.
  • Cocktail jigger – A shot glass works just as good.

How to Make It

Step 1: Rim the glass

Start by pouring half the caramel syrup onto a small plate. Roll the rim of the glass around in the caramel to coat. Just like coating the rim of your margarita glass in salt. Alternatively, if you don’t want to use syrup, you can use cinnamon sugar on the rim. A sugar rim is just as good!

Step 2: Shake the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, mix together the remaining caramel syrup, rum, and apple cider with ice and shake until well combined.

Step 3: Serve

Serve the cocktail in the prepared martini or coupe glass. Garnish with ground cinnamon and a cinnamon stick. Add a few apple slices, if you want.

Every sip delivers a sweet blast of caramel, followed by apple cider and spices.

What Rum To Use

This recipe uses Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum. You can use any brand of spiced rum that you want, like Sailor Jerry’s or Kraken. On a side note, this cocktail is also really good with caramel vodka, just in case you don’t like spiced rum.

Helpful Tips

  • This cocktail is also really good with vanilla vodka, just in case you don’t like spiced rum.
  • Turn this cocktail into a float with a scoop of Haagen Das Dulce de Leche ice cream added to it. It’s scrumptious!
  • Use a shot glass or a cocktail jigger and measure out the ingredients.

This recipe makes one cocktail, so be sure to double or triple the quantity to have enough to serve everyone! If you make this cocktail, we’d love to hear how you like it in the comments!
